Manipur Tribal Indigenous Farmers’ Committee warns state government of intense agitations
MTIFC stated that appointment of a technical officer from the respective department as per provisions of existing recruitment and service rules is essential in the larger interest of the employees and for the welfare of the general public.
The Manipur Tribal Indigenous Farmers’ Committee (MTIFC) has warned the state government of statewide agitations if their demand against appointment of IAS or MCS officers as HODs in Agriculture, and Veterinary and Animal Husbandry departments remains unheeded.
MTIFC had previously pointed out the vital roles of the departments in food production, and generating employment opportunities for youths and women, stated a release.
It also stated that the livelihoods of 70 per cent of the state population depend on agriculture and related businesses while 90 per cent of the population relish meat products, and this implies that the Agriculture and Veterinary departments hold the backbone of the entire state. Therefore, appointment of a technical officer from the respective department as per provisions of existing recruitment and service rules is essential in the larger interest of the employees of the particular department and for the welfare of the general public as a whole, it stated.
Reiterating the committee’s earlier appeal to the state government on the issue, the release stated that if the state government fails to consider the appeal at the earliest, MTIFC will be compelled to launch intense agitations all across the state.
