Former minister O Henry has served a legal notice to eight state government officials, warning that contempt petition will be filed against them without further notice if any monetary or financial benefits are given to MLA Yumkham Erabot.

The monetary or financial benefits include salary, MLA local area development fund, any other benefits involving financial benefits including distribution of food grains, fair price shops and others by CAF and PD, stated the legal notice served through his advocate on Friday.

The notice mentioned that all the powers and privileges of Erabot as MLA of Wangkhei assembly constituency has been taken away by the Supreme Court by its order dated May 6.

As a result, Erabot is now not entitled to any monetary benefits in respect of the office of MLA, and the only thing that is entitled to him is to represent the electorate in the House and participate in the debates and nothing else, it added.

“Any granting of such power or privilege to Erabot which directly or indirectly allows him to deal with distribution of food grains, fair price shops and others by CAF and PD will amount to wilful violation or disobedience of the order and directions of the Supreme Court,” the notice stated.
