Five COVID-19 related deaths were reported in Manipur on Thursday, when the state recorded its highest single-day spike this year with as many as 314 people testing positive for the viral infection in a span of 24 hours, according to the state health department.
The new positive cases included 18 personnel of the Central Armed Police Force, stated a release from the Common COVID-19 Control Room.
While the state's COVID-19 caseload surged to 31,315, the death toll mounted to 400 on Thursday.
The five deaths on Thursday included two each from Imphal East and Imphal West and one from Bishnupur district.
Two districts - Imphal West and Imphal East - continued to report the highest new COVID-19 positive cases at 128 and 77 respectively, the release stated.
Twenty-nine new cases are from Kaching, 14 each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, 13 from Kangpokpi, 11 from Thoubal, four from Tamenglong, three from Senapati, two from Noney and one from Uhkrul, it added.
The number of COVID-19 active cases also rose to 1,225 with the new positive cases while the cumulative number of recovered cases increased to 29,690. The state's COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 94.81 per cent from 94.75 per cent on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, air passengers who travelled to the state on April 25 by Indigo flights 6E-6181 in rows 16-21 and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been asked to inform the Common Covid Control Room at 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) immediately.
As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of people who have been vaccinated in the state reached 1,59,860.
All persons above 45 years are advised to get vaccinated immediately at vaccine centres of RIMS, JNIMS, District hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals, the release added.
