An old hand grenade was found while unloading soil at the residence of one resident of Bashikhong Thongkha under Irilbung police station on Friday.

It is reported that the soil was collected from a site at Thiyam Konjil, Imphal East district. The bomb was found in the soil which was unloaded to fill up the foundation of a newly constructed house belonging to one Ningombam Rashitombi.
After the incident was reported to Irilbung police station, a police team of the said police station along with a team of bomb disposal squad reached the spot. The grenade was collected at about 1.34 pm on Saturday.

The bomb was safely disposed of at Angourok, Imphal East.
