Manipur Speaker Y Khemchand gets COVID-19 vaccine first dose

Khemchand said mass vaccination can help prevent COVID-19 spread in the state.

Manipur Speaker Yumnam Khemchand and his wife were administered COVID-19 vaccine at Urban health centre, Singjamei, Imphal West Monday.

Speaking to mediapersons, Khemchand said mass vaccination can help prevent COVID-19 infection. The outbreak of the second wave could be due to most people not following the guidelines against COVID-19.

In view of the recent rise in the number of COVID-19 infection which had declined in the past months, the speaker appealed to the public to volunteer for the vaccination.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh was vaccinated the first dose of COVID vaccine on Sunday at JNIMS, Porompat, Imphal.

Meanwhile, Speaker, Khemchand wished the people in the state happy and prosperous Meetei Cheiraoba or Sajibu Nongma Panba, new year in Manipuri lunar calendar mostly celebrated by the Meetei community in the state.
