International football player of Indian national football team, Konsham Chinglensana was given a warm welcome at Bir Tikendrajit International Airport, Imphal this Monday evening.
Chinglensana was feted for taking part as a player of the Indian national football squad during the international football friendly match organised at Oman and United Arab Emirates at Dubai last month.
Chinglensana’s flight from Guwahati airport was originally scheduled to land at Imphal airport at around 4 pm but the flight got delayed due to unavoidable circumstances and it arrived at about 6.30 pm.
Chinglensana is the son of Konsham Amu Meitei and Konsham ongbi Memcha Leima from Churachandpur Khumujamba Meitei Leikai, Churachandpur district.
Regardless of any caste, creed or religion, people from different communities of Churachandpur district gathered at the airport in huge numbers to give Chinglensana a grand reception at the airport.
Speaking to the media, a visibly moved Chinglensana expressed his gratitude to the people of Manipur for their kind gesture without considering the question of winning or losing in a match, and said it will definitely encourage him for the future.
Responding to the media, Chinglensana said winning and losing is a part of sports. He will try to show his performance better in the future to bring fame not only for Manipur but also for the country, he said.
Chinglensana took part as a main squad of Indian football team in the friendly football match played between India and Oman on March 25. However, he was substituted during the next match played between India and UAE on March 29.
The football match played between India and Oman ended in a draw by scoring a goal from each team. But India lost the next match by 6-0 against UAE.
The friendly match was organised as a preparation for the World Cup-Asian Cup qualifiers football team.
