Manipur Governor N Heptulla, CM Biren, minsters extend Yaoshang greetings
As we rejoice in the festivities, we must not forget to observe COVID appropriate behaviors to protect ourselves from the pandemic, CM Biren said.
Governor Najma Heptulla on Saturday extended her greetings to the people of Manipur on the auspicious occasion of Yaoshang festival.
“Let the joyous spirits of the Holi festival rejuvenate and strengthen the age-old bond of love, harmony, and understanding in the society and keep all sections of the people united to march forward peacefully,” she stated in her message. Games and sports are increasingly becoming an integral item during the celebration of Holi Festival in the state, it stated while adding unfortunately, the government has imposed some restrictions only because of COVID-19 pandemic this year, it added.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh stated in his Yaoshang message, “As we rejoice in the festivities, we must not forget to observe COVID appropriate behaviors to protect ourselves from the pandemic. This year, in view of COVID pandemic, the usual modes of celebrations such as ‘Thabal Chongba’ and ‘Jatrawali’ have been prohibited with protection of the community as the primary objective. I solicit the support of our people in implementing these drastic measures.”
IPR Minister Th Biswajit further appealed all to strictly abide the SOPs to contain the spread of COVID-19 infection by wearing of face masks, physical distancing and washing hands, in his message while urging to celebrate the occasion in its true spirit with the participation of all communities.
“Let this festival imbibe the sense of oneness and spread the message of love, friendship, brotherhood and harmony, cutting across all the barriers,” stated Tourism minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh in his message.
