Biennial election to council of states on June 19

In view of the biennial election, view of it, the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Secretariat has declared June 19 a holiday except for the officers/officials assigned duty for the election.

The Manipur Legislative Assembly has announced that the biennial election to the council of the states-2020 by the elected members of the assembly will be held on June 19 from 9 am to 4 pm in the Committee Room of Manipur Legislative Assembly, Chingmeirong, Imphal.

In view of it, the Manipur Legislative Assembly, Secretariat has declared June 19 a holiday except for the officers/officials assigned duty for the election.

A statement issued by chief security officer Manipur Legislative Assembly Y Shephali Devi stated that arrangements are being made in pursuance of the protocol instructed by the Election Commission of India in view of the COVID-19 pandemic for strict compliance of all concerned.

The vehicles of the members shall enter through gate no 1 and park at parking no 1. (in front of the Annexe building ) and exit through Gate No 2 after casting of votes by the members, it said. No persons including PROs/PSOs shall accompany the members inside the Annexe Building of the Assembly Complex where the polling area is located and the members shall be ushered by the security personnel of the Assembly to the voting area, it added.  

The vehicles of the candidates, election, observer, chief electoral officer, election officers on duty, medical teams, officials of DIPR, media persons and fire tenders of the Manipur fire service shall enter through Gate No 2 and park at parking No 2 (near Gate No 3) and exit through the same gate after duty, it said.

The official vehicles and private vehicles of officers/officials of the assembly secretariat shall enter through gate no 2 and park at parking no 2 and through the same gate after duty, it further said.  

All vehicles of the escort parties of the members shall not enter the assembly premises, it added.
