Manipur's COVID-19 active caseload surges back above 50

Five more persons tested COVID-19 positive in Manipur on Thursday.

The number of COVID-19 active cases in Manipur surged to 57 on Thursday with five more new positive cases, the state health department said.

With the new positive cases, the total caseload mounted to 29,367. The new positive cases included two each from Imphal East and Imphal West, and one from Bishnupur, it added, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.

No COVID-19 death case was recorded in the state on Thursday and the death toll remained 374, it stated.

The cumulative number of recovered cases rose to 28,936 with one recovered case on Thursday, leaving the state's recovery rate at 98.53 per cent, the release added.

It further stated that air passengers who travelled to the state on March 23 by Indigo flight 6E-2019 (Delhi-Imp) in rows 1-9, 15-21 and by Indigo flight 6E-6241 in rows 9-15 should inform the Common Covid Control Room at 1800343818 or respective district surveillance officers (DSO).

Meanwhile, 657 more people were vaccinated against COVID-19 in Manipur. The cumulative number of people vaccinated has reached 83,749, including 31.395 healthcare workers, the release added.
