The International Sanamahism Students’ Association (ISSA) on Thursday appealed to both the opposing groups of students of Manipur University of Culture (MUC) to accept the decisions taken by the new vice chancellor of the university.
ISSA is concerned over the latest development in the university where two conflicting groups among the students are contesting each other regarding MA admission, a release stated.
Apart from affecting the careers of the students, such a crisis may even devalue the beautiful culture of the state, it stated.
It further stated that members of the student body have talked with students of the opposing groups. Noting that the arguments of both the sides are rational, it stressed that one needs to abide by the rules that cannot be violated.
With the setting up of Manipur University of Culture, the association believes that UNESCO will start recognising the indigenous Sagol Kangjei, Umang Lai Haraoba among others at international level through the university, it stated. However, the ongoing impasse has hindered Manipuri culture from further progress and development, it stated.
Calling out to the people of Manipur to make firm stand jointly for preservation of its culture, it urged the stakeholders in general and the students in particular to accept the decisions taken by the new VC of the varsity.
