A Tarao students’ conference with the theme ‘reasoning the identity’ will be organised from February 19 to 22 at Khuringmol village, Tarao Student Union said on Tuesday.

The population of Tarao tribe has reached a minority status; however, the government has not declared the tribe as a minority tribe, vice president of Tarao Student Union Sebastian Tarao said while briefing to the media at Manipur Press Club.

The student union is consulting experts and taking up steps to promote the tribe, said Sebastian while appealing to the people and the media in the state to contribute in uplifting the tribe.
