Jiri Development Organisation (JDO) has condemned the authorities of Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS), Imphal for allegedly delaying in receiving patients brought from Jiribam.
The organisation has complained that patients from Jiribam transported to Imphal are not received in time at JNIMS hospital and made them stay outside the hospital for a long period.
Jiribam people are unhappy with the authority and this kind of negligence should not be continued, it said.
JDO president N Sadananda Meetei said that amid the COVID-19 crisis, the people of Jiribam have been helping the people, who returned by train from different parts of the nation, in the district which is about 222 km away from Imphal.
It is sad to hear of not attending the patients and not testing samples sent from Jiribam to Imphal in time, he said.
He stated that a resident of Churachandpur who returned from Delhi on June 2 stayed at Jiribam hospital for 13 days. As he was experiencing a breathing problem, he left Jiribam and reached JNIMS at 2 am on Thursday, he added.
The hospital authority declined to receive the patient immediately, he alleged. He was received at 9 am on Friday, he added. There was also an instance of not receiving a patient from Jiribam who belongs to Kangpokpi, he further said and appealed to not let such incidents happen again.
