The United Women Organisation (UWO) Tamenglong in a statement demanded for completion of any project in the district before their inauguration.
The statement issued by its president stated that a public utility facility like the much-needed water supply scheme is due to be inaugurated by the chief minister of Manipur on January 29, but construction works are still in its initial stage especially at Gadai Range. Similarly, lower ground construction is nowhere near completion and there is an apprehension among the people that the same negligence of the state government may repeat again, it added.
“The long-suffering people of Tamenglong deserved nothing less than a fully functional project of a good quality finished work and a fit-for purpose asset. Let the public make good use of it,” the UWO president said.
“For instance, the Mini-Secretariat was inaugurated by P Chidambaram, and what is the status now. Do we really make use of it? District Hospital is another example of inauguration before completion, and the list goes on,” she added.
Inauguration of many incomplete projects by the politicians may add additional feathers to their political careers but unfortunately it is the general public who suffer the most due to lack of facilities, she further said in the statement.
