Manipur reports 19 new COVID-19 cases; total cases rise to 385

The number of active cases in the state increased to 312, while the total recovered cases stood at 73.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in Manipur rose to 385 as 19 more people, tested positive for the virus, state health department said on Friday

State health department spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang stated in a release that the 19 new cases were confirmed at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDLs) of RIMS and JNIMS in Imphal late Thursday.

Of them, Kakching reported nine cases, Ukhrul four, Imphal West two, while Imphal East, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong and Noney reported one case each, the state department said.

 “They will be shifted to Covid Care facilities in Imphal. All necessary precautionary measures have been taken up by the concerned district authorities,” the spokesperson added.

With the detection of new cases, the number of active cases in the state increased to 312, while the total recovered cases stood at 73.

On Thursday, 55 new COVID-19 positive cases were reported from different parts of the state, taking the total number of cases to 366.
