The Thadou Youth Association, Joint headquarters Sadar hills and the Komrem Students Union, Sadar Hills distributed essential items, including facemasks, hand sanitizers and mineral water to some of the institutional quarantine centres under Kangpokpi district on Tuesday.
President of Thadou Youth Association Joint headquarters Sadar hills Henminlen Hangshing in a release stated that they observed that the inmates were facing problems of inadequate toilet, bathroom and water in the centres including Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Regional Campus, Makhan, Jawaharlal Nehru Vidyalay Kangpokpi and another at Thangal Sarung village.
Henminlen said that it is equally important for the government to provide adequate infrastructure proportionate to the number of returnees as much as it is mandatory for the inmates to follow strict rules to contain the spread of the virus.
He further informed that the materials were handed over to the inmates by following the guidelines to protect oneself from the highly contagious pandemic.
