Self-Reliant Mission: Promotional sale of organic oranges of Pherzawl launched

The sale of oranges was launched by deputy commissioner of Pherzwal district, Mannuamching at two organic outlets of Horticulture and Soil Conservation at Sanjenthong, Imphal East.

The two-day promotional sale of organic oranges from Pherzwal district of Manipur was launched under the Chief Minister's Self-Reliant Mission in Imphal East on Monday. 

Organised by the Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), the sale of oranges was launched by deputy commissioner of Pherzwal district, Mannuamching at two organic outlets of Horticulture and Soil Conservation at Sanjenthong, Imphal East. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mannuamching said the annual orange production from Pherzwal district is 100 metric tons, and under the initiatives of MOMA, orange growers plan to sell five metric tons of oranges till Tuesday at affordable prices.

Announcing the promotional sale of the oranges, Chief Minister N Biren Singh posted in his Facebook page: “SELF RELIANT MISSION:- Orange fruits produced by different farmers of Pherzawl District unable to reach market has been procured by Manipur Agro Pvt Ltd under the arrangement of MOMA to reach Imphal and organise promotional sale at the two Organic Outlets at Sanjenthong, Imphal at Rs 90 per kg from 11th January, 2021. The sale will continue for oranges of Saikul area also.Total orange procured from Pherzawl is about 5 MT.”

The DC also said that unlike other oranges of Manipur, the oranges from Pherzwal have an exceptional taste. He expressed his gratitude towards the orange farmers of the district for producing organic oranges in large quantities. He also wished the farmers to produce more oranges by putting extra effort while farming.

He appealed to the people of Manipur to come and avail the benefit of organic oranges from the organic stores.
