Manipur's new COVID-19 positive tally remains below 50-mark

Manipur reported one death and 37 new COVID-19 positive cases among the general population on Saturday.

Manipur continued to witness a downtrend below 50-mark in daily new COVID-19 positive cases with the report of detection of Coronavirus in 37 more people in the state on Saturday.

The state health department stated in the release that the 37 new positive cases have pushed the COVID-19 confirmed cases in the state to 28,243, including 26,782 number of recoveries, 1,104 active cases and 357 fatalities.

The viral infection claimed the life of one more patient from Kakching, a 52-year-old female, on Saturday, according to the release. 

The new positive cases included 12 from Imphal West, eight from Imphal East, seven from Tamenglong, five from Thoubal, three from Churachandpur and two from Bishnupur, the release stated.

All are locals without any significant travel history. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it added.

Meanwhile, 40 more persons recovered from COVID-19 on Saturday. With it, the state's recovery rate improved to 94,82 per cent.

The cumulative number of home isolation cases in Manipur surged to 8,792, of which 8,172 have recovered from the infection while 238 cases are active, the state health department said. 

Those who are in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves immediately, contact the Covid Control room or the district CMO for testing. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818; for home isolation-related cases, one can dial the home isolation helpline numbers- 0385-2414009 (State head quarter) and - 8415944151 (Thoubal), the state health services stated.

One can also avail online teleconsultation by government doctors from home (10 am to 3 pm every day except on Sunday) by downloading eSanjeevaniOPD app at Google Play store or go to the website -  www.esanjeevaniopd.in.

The state health department has also advised the public to dial - 104 Manipur Mental Health Helpline from 9 am to 9 pm, for mental wellbeing.
