COVID-19 in Manipur: Five more test positive; total cases rise to 309

So far as many as 19,854 tests have been conducted in the state. The rates of test per million population has now improved to 6,966. The positivity rate is 1.56, the state health department said.

Manipur on Wednesday reported five more COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total number of cases in the state to 309, state health department said.

State health department spokesperson Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang stated in a release that the five new cases are from Imphal East district who had recently returned to the state from other states. They were confirmed at the Virus Research and Diagnostic Laboratories (VRDL) of JNIMS in Imphal, he stated.

“They are stable and are being shifted to Covid Care facilities in Imphal. All necessary precautionary measures are in place,” the spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, all 868 samples which were tested at the VRDL of RIMS in Imphal on Tuesday came negative, the state health department said.

Of the total 309 COVID-19 positive cases, 248 are active while 61 patients have recovered from the disease.

On Tuesday, Manipur recorded 32 new cases, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 304.
