AJUCA vice-president M Premchandra Singh said even as the state government allotted doctors in Jiribam in response to the request of the association, some doctors have been transferred while some are on the queue to leave the district.

During this period of emergency, doctors, nurses, officials from various departments and volunteers of civil bodies are struggling with the arrival of stranded Manipuris at Jiribam railway station. While the association is pressing to equip Jiribam hospital with adequate X-ray, Ultra-sound and COVID-19 testing facilities, the sudden transfer of a specialist in two months of his joining at the hospital is strongly condemned, he said.

As Jiribam is 222 kilometres away from capital Imphal, people of Jiribam are very disappointed at transferring specialists from the district during this COVID-19 crisis, he said.  He appealed to the deputy medical superintendent and chief medical officer to assign substitutes before transferring specialists from the district. He also drew the attention of the chief minister and health minister in this regard.
