Condemning the authority concerned for not removing the memorial building constructed within the premises of protected site of Kaina Temple, the Kaina Development and Protection Organisation (KDPO) Poiroukhongjin, Imphal East appealed to the authority concerned not to inaugurate the newly constructed Kaina Temple until the said building is demolished or removed.
Addressing the media in a press conference held at Manipur Press Club on Saturday, KDPO president Laishram Magha Singh said that Kaina Temple is one of the sacred places of Hindu and declared the temple site as a historical and protected site of Manipur.
However, a memorial building was constructed by (Late) Pangambam Ningthouren Singh dedicated to his (Late) father Pangambam Tomba Singh at the particular site a long time ago. The presence of the memorial building within the premises of sacred place is not accepted by many people of the locality, and the committee has been urging to remove the building at earliest, he added.
Magha further said that the Tourism minister, ignoring people's concern, has planned to inaugurate the new Kaina Temple constructed by the state government.
He continued that on November 25, the state Archaeology department had also been notified to remove the building. As such, the state government should not take up any steps to inaugurate the temple unless the old memorial building is demolished.
