The Democratic Students’ Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has urged the authority of DM College of Teachers Education to conduct entrance examination for the B Ed course of the academic session 2020-21.
Unfortunately the college did not conduct entrance examination for the M Ed course of the academic session 2020-21 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said DESAM president Nameirakpam Edison while speaking to the media on Wednesday in Imphal.
“If Manipur University and DM College can conduct entrance examinations of other branches by following the SOP. Why can’t the Teachers Education conduct entrance examinations?” Edison asked.
DESAM will never compromise if the admission process of B Ed is taken up without conducting any entrance examination, he added.
Teachers Education is one of the most important components in bringing sustainable development in the education sector which is also a part of Manipur’s vision 2030, said the president.
Pointing out that there is no regular principal of Teachers Education in DM College, Edison alleged that the state government seems to be not focusing on the education sector.
Though the cabinet has approved of appointing a regular principal of the college and upgrading its infrastructure, the state government has not taken up any steps till today, alleged Edison. He further appealed to the government to give more focus on the education sector as education is one of the most important keys in creating a better future for society.
