12 from Manipur selected for Football National Coaching Camp

The forthcoming AFC Senior India Women Asia Cup 2022 to be held at Assole Ground in Goa from December 1 to January 15, 2021

Altogether 12 players and officials from Manipur are in the final list of the National Coaching Camp for the forthcoming AFC Senior India Women Asia Cup 2022 to be held at Assole Ground in Goa from December 1, 2020 to January 15, 2021.

According to a release issued by Youth Affairs and Sports director T Phulen, the players and coach will leave Imphal for Goa on Tuesday by air.

The players and official of Manipur selected are defender Asem Roja Devi, defender Ngangbam Sweety Devi, defender Sorokhaibam Ranjana Chanu, defender Wangkhem Linthoingambi Devi, defender Pakpi Devi Yumlembam, Goal Keeper Elangbam Panthoi Chanu, Goal Keeper Maibam Linthoingambi Devi, midfielder Nongmaithem Ratanbala Devi, midfielder Kasmina, striker Dangmei Grace, striker Heigrujam Daya Devi and assistant coach L Chaoba Devi, it said. 

“The fact that Manipur has contributed about 43 players in the ISL shows the dominance of the state in the discipline of Football. Moreover, Manipur is the only state in India which has two I League teams,” it stated.

It further said that once the pandemic is subsided, YAS is planning for an AIFF accredited academy under its aegis. The Director YAS is in constant touch with AIFF technical committee to start the academy, it added.

While saying that the state government has rendered financial assistance of Rs 50 lakhs each to the two teams namely TRAU and NEROCA, it said that the government is also in the process of extending the same financial assistance to KRYPSHA.
