Manipur government urged to review transfer order of DM College of Science Principal
The DM College of Science Teachers' Association (DMCOSTA) said that the act of transferring a principal of a college near retirement is disturbing.
The DM College of Science Teachers' Association (DMCOSTA) has expressed surprise and concern over the government issuing an order on November 24 transferring the principal of DM College of Science, who is due to retire in three months' time.
DMCOSTA urged the government to reconsider and review the said order and give the current principal of DM College of Science the fair and sympathetic treatment he deserves.
The association, in a statement, said that it does not oppose nor intends to oppose any rightful policy of the government regarding the transfer and posting of government college teachers in Manipur.
“DMCOSTA also welcomes whoever is competent and eligible teacher posted by the government as the principal of DM College of Science. But the act of transferring a principal of a college near retirement is disturbing and does not go down well with the college teachers. It apparently gives an impression of an indifferent and inconsiderate attitude of the government towards the college teachers,” it stated.
It maintained that after decades of service to the cause of higher education in the state, the senior teachers deserve to be treated better.
The recent act of transferring the principal of DM College of Science by the government has shaken the belief of the teachers that the government is sympathetic and considerate enough to not entertain the transfer and posting of senior teachers near retirement, it contended.
Reviewing the said transfer order will go a long way in restoring the much-needed trust and goodwill between the teachers and the government, the DMCOSTA added.
