Manipur COVID-19 tally inched nearer to 24,000-mark with 268 new cases and the death toll mounted to 240 as two more fatalities were recorded on Tuesday, the state health department said.
The cumulative number of positive cases, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room, is now 23,940 (General Population - 20,869 and Central Security Personnel 3,071), including 26 cases from Lilong and Wangjing assembly constituencies and 22 Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) personnel.
Among the new positive cases from the general population 148 are males while 120 are females. They are - Imphal West - 83. Imphal East - 65, Thoubal - 37, Bishnupur - 19, Kakching - 18, Tengnoupal - 4, Ukhrul- 5, Tamenglong - 16, Noney - 3, Churachandpur - 12, Senapati - 4 and Kangpokpi - 2.
All are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
The two COVID-19 fatalities on Tuesday were reported from Imphal West and Imphal East) who died at Shija Hospital and Raj Medicity respectively.
Meanwhile, 151 more patients recovered from coronavirus on Tuesday, pushing the cumulative number of recovered cases in the state to 20,525 (General Population - 17.768 and Central Security Personnel 2,757).
There are 3,175 active cases (General Population - 2,865 and Central Security Personnel - 310) and the recovery rate is 85.73 per cent, it added.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in home isolation in Manipur stands at 6,228, of which 5,025 patients have recovered while 1,203 are active, according to the latest updates by the state health department.
Those in contact with a COVID-19 positive person have been advised to isolate themselves. In case of emergency, one can dial 24x7 Covid Common Control Room Number-1800-345-3818, the state health services stated.
