Meghalaya's COVID-19 death toll rises to 108

Two more COVID-19 patients died due to COVID-19 in Meghalaya

Two more patients died due to COVID-19 related illnesses, including a five-year-old girl, taking the number of fatalities in Meghalaya on Saturday to 108.

Director of Health Services Dr Aman War informed that 117 new COVID-19 cases were detected and 78 patients have recovered from the transmittable diseases on Saturday.

Of the new cases, 53 cases are from East Khasi Hills, 47 West Garo Hills, 8 South Garo Hills, 5 South West Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills and 1 positive cases each in Ri Bhoi and West Khasi Hills.

Those tested positive include 15 from the armed and paramilitary forces, 3 police personnel from East Khasi Hills and 4 health workers (2 from South West Garo Hills and 1 each from West Garo Hills and East Khasi Hills).

Dr War said that of the new recovery cases, 24 are from East Khasi Hills, 20 East Garo Hills, 12 West Garo Hills, 9 West Jaintia Hills, 7 Ri Bhoi, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 2 South West Garo Hills and 1 North Garo Hills.

The state has till now detected 11,269 COVID-19 cases, of which 925 are active cases, 10,236 recovered and 108 deaths.

East Khasi Hills has 427 positive cases, West Garo Hills 229, East Garo Hills 72, Ri Bhoi 58, South West Garo Hills 32, South Garo Hills 36, West Khasi Hills 27, East Jaintia Hills 22, West Jaintia Hills 13 and North Garo Hills 9.

“Till date, swab samples of 2, 28,455 persons have been tested of which 2, 17,186 were found negative,” said Dr. War.

There are 61,130 entrants from outside the state.
