The Manipur Government Higher Secondary Lecturers’ Welfare Association has decided to file a petition in the High Court of Manipur against the government notification issued by the finance department on October 28, 2006, that reduced the pay scale of higher secondary lecturers.
General secretary of the association M Jadumani, in a statement, said that a special meeting of the association convened on Saturday decided to move the court.
“The government notification reducing the pay scales of higher secondary lecturers from Rs 7,500 to Rs 6,500 is a violation of financial rights and Article 309 of Indian Constitution,” he stated.
The lecturers had protested against the said notification from time to time by taking up cease work strike among others.
