AMFA advised to rethink on starting football amid COVID-19

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur has asked All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) to consult all concerned departments, including Health Department before announcing the schedules of 14th Manipur State League 2020-21 and Women's League.

YAS Director T Phulen Meitei in a statement said that in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state is under the purview of the National Disaster Management Act 2005 and State Disaster Management Authority headed by Chief Secretary of Manipur.

At this juncture, the YAS feels that it is advisable for All Manipur Football Association to consult all concerned department including Health Department, Home and YAS as well before announcing the schedules for the League/Tournaments, it stated.

It further said that AMFA is expected to cooperate with the government as it is registered under the Co-Operative Societies Act and is getting financial assistance and logistic support from the YAS Department.

As AMFA is hell bent on conducting the football leagues during the pandemic period, they have to take all responsibilities, the statement said.
