Chandel's new road cutting diverted to village not mentioned in work order: LNSU
Construction of road has been diverted to Aihang village instead of connecting New Chayang to Leingangching in Chandel district, says LNSU.
The Lamkang Naga Students’ Union (LNSU) has stated that against the work order issued for construction of road from Leinganching to Chothe Khunou (SH to New Chayang) under Chandel district, the ‘new road cutting’ has been diverted to Aihang village instead of connecting New Chayang to Leingangching.
The Lamkang Khurchuknao Kunpun (Lamkang Naga Students Union) on February 18 inspected the work of construction of road from Leingangching to Chothe Khunou (SH to New Chayang) under Chandel district, Manipur.
“To our dismay, we found that the said work starts from the waiting shed located at New Chayang jurisdiction near Imphal-Sugnu road and connects Aihang instead of Leinghanching village,” it said.
The organisation is very disappointed for diverting the ‘new road cutting’ to Aihang, a village which is not at all mentioned in the work order/programme instead of connecting Leingangching, it said.
"It is also learnt that PWD has already undertaken connectivity road from Aihang connecting New Chayang village in 2016," the release stated.
Chandel district lies in the south-eastern part of Manipur at 24o40′ N Latitude and 93o50′ E Longitude, according to official sources.
The organisation is of the view that the department is used by some influential people for fulfilling their vested interests, it said.
The union had submitted a representation to the CM which was forwarded to CE/PMGSY for doing the needful but nothing has been done so far, the release said. The organisation appeals to make necessary arrangements for the work order to be implemented properly, it added.
