In absence of any government support, the Assam Rifle (AR) repaired the road to Tabanglong village from National Highway-137 in Tamenglong district.

“The gesture during these testing times shall surely connect the hearts. Together the AR personnel and villagers worked shoulder to shoulder to repair the only eight kilometres link road connecting the village to NH-137,” said AR in a release.

It also stated that the gesture not only brought smiles on the grim faces but also villagers volunteered to work alongside soldiers fostering a bond of friendship and brotherhood.

Admiration poured in the form of warm welcome of troops to this otherwise remote village and certainly the act of AR troops will write a new chapter of friendship with hill people with a sense of security and trust, it added.
