The district administration of Ukhrul on October 28 had a meeting with the chiefs of Kuki villages of Zalengbung, Lamlai Chingphei, Mongkot Chepu, Sangkai and Litan Sareikhong, and had come to an understanding that the hill cutting work can be started before giving any compensation to the land owners in their respective villages.

It is learned that the hill cutting work has started on Thursday and the present single lane will be developed to double lane (7 metres).

NHIDCL officer informed this IFP correspondent that a detailed survey for the project had been completed long time ago, however, the compensation for land acquisition is still in progress in other places or villages.
