Six more victims pushed the COVID-19 death toll to 156, while the total confirmed cases rose to 17,809 as 205 more people tested positive for the viral infection in Manipur on Wednesday, the state health department said.
The six COVID-19 victims on Wednesday are – a 43 year-old male from Thoubal), 75-year-old male from Churachandpur), 37-year-old male from Thoubal, 60-year-old female from Imphal West, 57-year-old male from Tengnoupal) and 63-year-old male from Churachandpur. The new COVID-19 positive cases included 198 persons (97M, 101F) from the general population and seven personnel from the Central Armed Police Force, according to the latest updates from the COVID-19 Common Control Room.
Imphal West reported the highest number of positive cases at 93. Others are 27 each from Imphal East and Thoubal, one each from Chandel and Tengnoupal, seven each from Churachandpur and Kangpokpi, 16 from Bishnupur, two from Kakching, four from Senapati, 10 from Tamenglong, and three from Jiribam.
All the new positive cases are locals without any significant travel history. They are being shifted to the Covid Care facilities. All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
The total number of discharged persons is 212. The cumulative number of recovered cases is 13,420 (General Population - 10,990 and Central Security Personnel - 2,430). With it, the recovery rate is now 75.35 per cent.
The cumulative number of positive cases is included 15,087 from the general population and 2,722 from the Central Security Personnel. The number of active cases is 4,233 (General Population - 3,945 and Central Security Personnel - 288), the release stated.
