Sonpram Village Authority has claimed that the blacktopping work of Lower Sonpram to Upper Sonpram village road in Tamenglong was carried out without maintaining the quality standard given in the guidelines of the work programme.
Despite repeated reminders of the poor quality, the contractor turned deaf ear to the voice of the innocent villagers, stated a release issued by chairman and youth president of Sonpram Village Authority.
The blacktopping work covers a distance of 7.23 km and it was taken up under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), by a government contractor, it said.
Asserting that the villagers welcome development but not at the cost of corruption, it appealed to the authority concerned to look into the matter and take up appropriate prompt action.
The village authority warned that they would resort to different forms of agitation if the authority concerned fails to take up necessary action.
