INC files new face in KPI, GS Haupu files nomination as BJP candidate in Churachandpur
INC candidate Lamtinthang will be contesting with the veteran politician, Ngamthang Haokip, who had more than 20 years experience in politics and a BJP candidate in the upcoming by-election of 51-Saitu AC.
Barely a day ahead of the last day of nomination, a new face has filed his nomination on Monday afternoon as Indian National Congress (INC) candidate for 51-Saitu assembly constituency by-election at the office of DEO/DC, Kangpokpi.
The 37 years old candidate, Lamtinthang Haokip is the son of (Late) Paojang Haokip and Vahjalam Haokip from Kholep, Kangpokpi district. He filed his nomination to the returning officer of 51-Saitu AC after he was proposed by Thangminlen Haokip and Lunkhongam Haokip.
The MSc, MPhil and PhD holder Lamtinthang is the convenor of Youth for Change, Manipur from 2015 till date. He is also a member in the Sub Committee on ILP, Kuki Inpi Manipur from 2019 till date. He was the general secretary of Kuki Research Forum, Delhi and NCR in 2013-2015. He was also the president of KSO Delhi and NCR (2010-2012), coordinator of Kuki Research Forum (2009-2012), general secretary of KSO Delhi and NCR (2005-2009), education secretary of All Tribal Students’ Association Delhi (2005-2006), executive member of ATSUM (2000-2002), general secretary of All College Tribal Students’ Organisation, Manipur (2000-2002) and general secretary of Tribal Students’ Union, DMC of Science (2000-2002). His political affiliation is with the Indian National Congress (INC) and he served as the president of Saitu Block Youth Congress. His social views are gender equality, humility, honesty and diversity.

For 60-Singat assembly constituency, former MLA and chairman of MANIREDA, Ginsuanhau Zou alias GS Haupu has filed his nomination paper as BJP candidate on Monday.
GS Haupu was accompanied by minister, Vungzagin Valte, general secretary (in-charge) of BJP Churachandpur, L Diben Singh, spokesperson of BJP for Singat AC by-election, Benzamin Mate, president of Churachandpur District BJP, Khaipau Haokip and a host of MDC from ADCC.
After filing his nomination, Haupu told the media that he had resigned as MLA on August 10 for the interest of his constituency and UPF and KNO, who are under SoO with the government.
