Stay Covid Free: Manipur police hold massive public awareness rally in Imphal valley
The Manipur Police launched the Jan Andolan statewide campaign on October 13.
Holding a huge banner with the slogan - Stay Covid Free, Manipur Police carried out a massive Covid-19 awareness rally under the Central programme of Jan Andolan-Covid appropriate behaviours in Imphal valley on Saturday.
The Jan Andolan (public awareness) rally by the Imphal East police started from Lamlong Bazar and passed through Khurai Thongam Leikai, Khurai Ahongei, JNIMS road and TV tower junction in Imphal East area.
The rally by Imphal West Police was led by SP K Meghachandra Singh, Additional SP IUCAW Imphal West, Rattana Ngasepam, SDPO and OC Lamphel, OC Imphal PS and other officials.
The rally was organised in association with RIMS Manipur security forces, the Indian Red Cross Society, the Uripok Apunba Lup and the United Club of Lamphel around the containment zone in Thangmeiband area. The rally passed through the Lamphel Sanakeithel road, RIMS Road, Nagamapal Road, Khoyathong Road, Watham Leirak, Uripok Kangchup Road and Uripok-RIMS road.
The Manipur Police said the campaign will be repeated in the coming days. It said that access control will be enforced in containment zones and the general public is appealed to adhere to containment area norms. Action will be taken against violators under the provisions of IPC, Manipur Epidemic Diseases (Enforcement of COVID -19 Guidelines) Regulations, 2020, it said.
The Manipur Police launched the Jan Andolan statewide campaign on October 13, with Chief Minister N Biren Singh tweeting about it.
“Mass awareness campaign started by @manipur police in different districts of the state to defeat #COVID19,” CM Biren had posted on Twitter and Facebook along with pictures of the launch.
