Prime Minister Narendra Modi will release a commemorative coin of Rs 100 in honour of Vijaya Raje Scindia on October 12, her birth anniversary, through a virtual ceremony, the Union Culture Ministry said.
Vijaya Raje Scindia was born on October 12, 1919 as Lekha Divyeshwari Devi, but popularly known as the Rajmata of Gwalior. She was a strong Indian political leader and co-founded the Bharatiya Janata Party.
The Prime minister will release the Rs 100 coin in celebration of her birth centenary on Monday. The special commemorative coin was minted by the Finance Ministry as a part of the celebrations.
Family members of Vijaya Raje Scindia along with other dignitaries will also join the ceremony from different locations all over the country through virtual platform. She passed away on January 25, 2001.
