India's Covid-19 tally nears 70-lakh mark; death toll surges to 1,07,416

Although a dip in the single-day spike is being witnessed, 73,272 new Covid-19 positive cases pushed India's confirmed tally to 69,79,423.

India's COVID-19 case nears 70 lakhs as 73,272 new confirmed cases pushed the total tally to 69,79,423 on Saturday, according to official sources.

The coronavirus death toll in the country surged to 1,07,416 with 926 fresh casualties in the past 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said.

Meanwhile, 82,753 more persons were discharged and the cumulative recovered cases have reached 59,88,822. Of the total cases, 8,83,185 are active still.

With 302 more patients succumbing to the disease, Maharashtra witnessed the highest number of Covid-19 deaths on Saturday. 

According to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Government of India, Nagaland, Mizoram, Ladakh, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands are the states and union territory which did not report any Covid death case in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, In Manipur, the total number of Covid-19 confirmed cases crossed 13,000 and the death toll rose to 88 on Saturday. A total of 282 persons, including 255 from general population and 27 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on Saturday.
