Manipur's Covid-19 confirmed cases cross 13000 mark; death toll 88

Covid-19 claimed two more lives in Manipur on Saturday.

Manipur's Covid-19 confirmed case tally crossed 13,000 mark with 282 new positive cases, while two more fatalities pushed the death toll to 88 on Saturday, official sources said.

A total of 282 persons, including 255 from general population and 27 personnel from Central Armed Police Force were confirmed to be COVID-19 positive on Saturday.

Of the 255 new cases from general population, 131 persons were from Imphal West, 44 from Imphal East, four each from Tamenglong and Kangpokpi, five from Jiribam, 13 from Bishnupur, one each from Noney and Senapati, 15 from Thoubal, seven each from Kamjong and Ukhrul, 17 from Churachandpur and three persons each from Tengnoupal and Chandel. 10 new cases from general population are returnees while the rest 245 are locals with no travel history.

With the new cases, the number of cumulative cases surged to 13,092, including 2,698 active cases.

Meanwhile, two persons, one 55-year-old from Thoubal and another 70-year-old from Imphal West succumbed to the disease at Raj Medicity and Shija Hospitals respectively. The number of persons in home isolation is 303.

According to the official release, 440 more persons were discharged. With it, the cumulative number of recovered cases has reached 10,306. The recovery rate is 78.71 per cent.

"If you were in contact with a positive person, isolate immediately. Contact Covid control room or CMO for testing. Together we can break the COVID chain," the health department added in the release.
