Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga visits landslide-hit Zemabawk, assures all help to affected people

Zemabawk falls under Aizawl East-I constituency where Zoramthanga was elected.

Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga visited the landslide area in the outskirts of Aizawl along with Mizoram Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Minister Lalchamliana on Tuesday evening and assured all necessary help to the people.

Zoramthanga met the affected people and said all necessary help will be extended to the people. Zemabawk falls under Aizawl East-I constituency where Zoramthanga was elected.

Heavy landslide occurred at the Zemabawk area around 3:30 am, police said, adding that two buildings and two vehicles were swept away by the landslide. However, there is no report of casualty. A three-storeyed building, a semi-concrete building, a bus and a car have been swept away by the landslide, sources added.

The area suffered landslides in the past too. Since the situation in the area was bad, people had already left the buildings days ago. Reports further said that people residing in the vicinity of the area have also been made to shift elsewhere.
