India’s single-day spike in COVID-19 drops to 61,267

India’s daily positivity rate has dipped to 5.7 per cent, as per the latest government data.

India’s Covid-19 tally crossed 66.85 lakh mark with 61,267 new positive infections in a span of 24 hours, and the death count mounted by 884, as per the latest updates from the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday.

Of the 66,85,083 total cases, 9,19,023 are active cases while 56,62,491 patients have been discharged from hospital. A total of 1,03,569 people have succumbed to the virus in the country.

As per the latest updates from Johns Hopkins University, a dip has been recorded in India’s seven-day average of new cases confirmed each day.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 8,10,71,797  samples have been tested for Covid-19 up to October 5. Of these, 10,89,403 samples were tested on Monday.

The total number of recoveries from Covid-19 has crossed 56.6 lakh, with 75,787 new recoveries, the data released by the Health Ministry showed.

India’s daily positivity rate has also dipped to 5.7 per cent, as per the data accessed from the government.

Maharashtra with 14.5 lakh coronavirus cases has accounted for 17 per cent of the new daily cases, followed by Karnataka with 7,051 cases, and Tamil Nadu and Kerala with almost 5,000 cases each daily. Andhra Pradesh has shown a decline of new cases with 4,256 new positive infections.
