After five days in police custody, Kishorchandra was produced before the court via video conferencing wherein the IO of the case pleaded the Judge to give fifteen days judicial remand for further investigation.

The special public prosecutor (PP) informed the court that the accused admitted the charge level against him.

The prosecutor asserted that the accused tried to justify his Facebook post in the garb of his profession, journalism and freedom of speech and expression. However, the justification and all his pleas of innocence are to hoodwink the investigation team to confusion and doubts, so as to distance himself from the case, he added.

The facebook post of the accused is clearly an attempt to disrespect the ST Maram tribe and incite them to raise themselves to save their honour and respect which could create a law and order, alleged the prosecutor.

He further pointed out that the accused is a habitual offender and habitual users of derogatory remarks on social media. “Seeing his past attempts to avoid cooperation with the investigation agency and his continued attempt to escape. Such an act creates an impression that the accused will try to evade the investigation agency again once he is released”, the prosecutor maintained.

Till now, Kishorchandra has not engaged counsel of his choice and availability of legal aid counsel. No prayer has filed for enlarging himself.

It may be mentioned that president of Maram Women Union, Kanga Regina lodged a written report to OC/SPT-PS stating that a person called Wangkhemcha Wangthoi posted on his Facebook page on September 3, a communally derogatory remark against the Maram tribe.
