Manipur Transport: CM Biren launches e-challan, e-payment system; smartcard fees slashed

Newly launched systems to reduce fees for smartcard driving license and registration certificates for vehicles from Rs 436 and Rs 643 respectively to Rs 200.

Manipur Chief minister N Biren Singh on Monday launched the e-challan and e-payment system of the state transport department and called for collective work towards better governance in the state.

Biren said the e-challan and e-payment system is a citizen-friendly system which will improve accountability and transparency, prevention of leakages, real time collection of fine and penalty amount.

"The system would also reduce the work load and paper work of the transport enforcement and traffic police. Let us all collectively work for better governance in the state," the chief minister said.

On the occasion, the chief minister also launched the Dealer Point Registration System and Online Permit System for the vehicles.

With the introduction of the newly launched systems, the fees for smartcard driving license and registration certificates for vehicles will be reduced from Rs 436 and Rs 643 respectively to Rs 200.

A documentary on the steps taken by the transport department during the pandemic was also screened during the function.

Minister for education S Rajen Singh, minister for Transport Vungzagin Valte, addl chief secretary MH Khan, principal secretary P Vaiphei, officials of various banks, representatives of various Vehicle Dealers and others were present during the function.
