A team led by acting chairperson of Manipur Human Right Commission (MHRC) Khaidem Mani, including DC, Imphal West on Monday inspected the quarantine centres in Imphal West district.
The team visited the 100-bedded hospital at UNACCO School Maitram in Imphal which is being set up especially for COVID-19 patients and inspected the ongoing work.
Mani said at a press conference held at MHRC office there were no complaints concerning the implementation of WHO protocol at the quarantine centres in Imphal West district.
The team also visited Johnstone Higher Secondary School, Standard Robert, and Manipur College and investigated whether the quarantine centres are following the WHO guidelines. He said the visits and investigation will further continue in Imphal East and other districts.
There are plans to conduct video conferencing for the quarantine centres which are located in fa- flung areas where the team may not be able to visit, he said, adding that the reports of the visits are to be submitted on June 10.
It takes time to visit and investigate the quarantine centres of each districts, he said. He also informed that there are approximately 700 quarantine centres in the state.
On May 26, the Manipur High Court had directed MHRC to find out whether the quarantine centres in the state are strictly following the guidelines issued by WHO and the National Centre for Disease Control.
