The awareness programme was organised by district administration in collaboration with One Stop Centre (OSC), Tamenglong under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. 

OSC staff Chambuan Bariam spoke on ‘Every child is different’ as a resource person in the awareness programme.

Bariam pointed out that children and adolescents with disabilities can be vulnerable to violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect. The frequent 'institutionalization' of children with disabilities, denying them the right to grow up in a family environment, can further impact their full potential and can increase their vulnerability, she added.

Child helpline number 1098 is functional in Tamenglong district and any incident related to POCSO Act may be informed, she said. 

Around 50 young girls attended the awareness programme.
