Manipur: Justice LS Jamir under self-isolation, no court proceedings

The High Court of Manipur has notified that Justice LS Jamir will not be holding any court proceedings as he has been in self isolation for medical reasons as advised by the chief medical officer, Imphal East.

A notification issued by the registrar (judicial) of the High Court said that the registry will notify all concerns as and when the Justice is able to resume court sittings after clearance by the chief medical officer.

In another similar notification, it asked the advocates who were physically present in the High Court after September 15 to get tested for COVID-19 and to self quarantine themselves.

A few staff and officers of the court tested positive for COVID-19 on September 16 and more numbers of COVID-19 cases were reported after the test conducted in the High Court premises on September 17, it added.

In order to contain further spread of COVID-19 in the court premises, the notification informed all members of the Bar and its litigants that some parts of the court premises are closed for further sanitisation and asked the advocates and litigants to avoid entering the premises till October 5.

During this period the court proceedings will be done through video conferencing and if any advocate or party needs to enter the court premises in case of real necessity, the person has to produce COVID-l9 negative test report issued by a competent authority within the last 15 days, it added.
