Rajasthan reports highest single-day spike in COVID-19 positive cases

The nationwide COVID-19 confirmed tally has reached 56,46,011 cases as per latest updates by the ministry

India’s Covid-19 tally crossed 56 lakhs with a surge of 83,347 positive cases recorded in the last 24 hours with an addition of 1085 deaths being reported. Of all the states, Rajasthan reported the highest increase in cases with a spike of 1,912 positive cases in a span of a single day. Maharashtra which was severely affected reported fewer positive cases in the past week, according to the Health Ministry.

The nationwide COVID-19 confirmed tally has reached 56,46,011 cases as per latest updates by the ministry. Of them, 90,020 people have lost their lives while 45,87,614 people have been discharged/ cured/ migrated. At present, there are 9,68,377 active cases of Covid-19 infection in India.

According to the data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India’s Covid-19 testing has increased above 12 lakhs per day.

India’s total cases accounts for 17.7 pe rcent of global Covid-19 total caseload. According to latest updates, India's COVID-19 tally has reached 56,46,010 and death toll touched 90,050. Of the confirmed cases, Maharashtra remains the worst-hit state with 12,42,770 cases, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

India’s recovery rate stands at 80.86 per cent while the fatality rate has recorded 1.6 per cent.

On Tuesday, India’s Covid-19 confirmed tally reached 55,62,664 cases with a spike of 75,083 positive cases, while 1053 people succumbed to the infection, according to Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data. According to it, the death toll was 88,935, and the active cases, 9,75,861. The number of patients who had recuperated was 44,97,868.

India’s recovery rate has improved and now records more than 80 percent. The country also accounts for highest recoveries due to Covid-19 globally.
