The district administration of Kamjong, Selco Foundation, Recognize, Rise and Empower Association (RREA) with SNL Energy Solutions Yaripok has successfully installed solar power system in five quarantine centres of Kamjong district.
The five locations are Kasom Khullen High School, Phungyar Higher Secondary School, SDO Complex Kamjong , COVID Care Centre Kamjong and Enlighten Christian Academy Kamjong.
It may be mentioned that Kamjong High School which is being used as a quarantine centre was also installed with solar power system last year by Selco Foundation and RREA.
A release by Selco Foundation and RREA has stated that the initiative has been appreciated by the local community as the region has frequent power cuts. Now, the clean energy system will allow 24x7 power supply for the care in quarantine centres and it will also allow students to have accessibility in the respective schools post COVID, it added.
It also stated that the ownership of the system will be jointly done between the communities and the respective departments handling the infrastructure.
Selco Foundation aims to develop innovative solutions for social use, technical and financial models that impact climate change and poverty alleviation. It is a collaborative endeavor to work on solutions, support agents and build sustainable ecosystems for clean energy access, said the release.
RREA also envisions in transforming risked communities into sustainable communities through socio-economic interventions, it added.
