Blood donation amid COVID-19 in Manipur

The Indian Red Cross Society (ICRS), Imphal West district branch has donated 207 blood units since February till date.

To avoid scarcity of blood amid COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Imphal West district branch has donated 207 blood units since February till date.

A release issued by chairman IRCS, Imphal West district branch, Dr Koijam Arunkanta mentioned that the society has been donating blood since February at various blood banks of Manipur to avoid scarcity of blood.

On Monday, the society organised a one-day voluntary blood donation camp at department of transfusion medicine, RIMS. The camp was jointly organized under the supervision of chairman IRCS, Imphal West district branch and vice chairman Manipur state branch along with medical superintendent, Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr Ch Arunkumar.

It also appealed regular voluntary blood donors to continue blood donation by following the standard operating procedure (SOP).
On Monday, 13 blood units were donated during the camp.
