As many as 12 Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MPs and five other members of the Lok Sabha reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 before the Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday morning.
The other five included two MPs of YSR Congress and one each of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), the Shiv Sena and the RLP.
The Lok Sabha MPs were tested as a mandatory process at the Parliament House on September 13 and 14 ahead of the Monsson session, according to a report in NDTV.
Early in the day, Prime Minister Narendra said that all precautions will be enforced strictly until a vaccine is found for the virus.
The Parliament Monsoon session 2020 began Monday morning amid the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. The session may conclude on October 1, the Parliamentary Affairs Ministry said on Sunday.
The ministry said the session will provide a total of 18 sittings spread over a period of 18 days (all the days, including Saturdays and Sundays of the ensuing session will be working days) and a total of 47 items have been identified for being taken up during the Monsoon Session, 2020.
