With the increase of COVID-19 cases in the state, the government has decided to set up a 100-bedded Covid Care Centre at UNACCO School, Meitram, Imphal.
A home department order issued on Saturday stated that the health department had requested for requisition of UNACCO School Meitram for setting up of a 100 bedded Covid Care Centre. They had proposed the centre particularly for the treatment of mild and very mild cases or persons suspected to be infected by COVID-19 as per the guidelines of the Health and Family Welfare Ministry, it added.
The health department indicated the arrangement of the infrastructure and personnel would be made for utilising the building as Covid Care Centre and agreed to bear the expenditure in running the centre, it said. As the number of COVID-19 infection is increasing and the need for establishment of such centre is justified, it added.
The order mentioned that as per the essence of such centre in this prevailing scenario, chairperson of State Executive Committee of the State Disaster Management Authority in exercise of the powers conferred under section 65(b) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005 requisitioned the UNACCO School, Meitram for setting up of the centre.
