Month-long celebration of 124th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irawat begins

The month-long celebration of 124th birth anniversary of Lamyanba Irawat began on Tuesday with floral tributes by Manipur CPI secretary L Sotinkumar and others to the great leader by the side of Wangkhem pond.
In honour of Lamyanba Irawat, his statue was erected by the side of Wangkhem pond
As a part of the event, floral tributes were also offered to the statue of the leader of Nupilal Sabi Devi at Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal, stated a release. Executive member of the party, DM Nara initiated the month-long celebration at Tentha multiplex for Thoubal district, it stated.
Sotinkumar urged the people gathered at the event to continue the work towards the goal set by Lamyanba Irawat to unify the state. The important events to be carried out for the month long celebration are the day Irawat reached Burma (Myanmar) at Keibi Mana hill on September 11; tribute to comrade Bir, who helped in reaching out the teachings of Irawat to the world, at Irawat bhawan on September 15; fight for Manipur’s integrity at Irawat park in Lamlai Challou on September 21; death anniversary at Irawat bhawan on September 25, the release stated.
Cleanliness drive and tree plantation will also be organised as a part of the celebration, it further stated adding the month long 124th birth anniversary celebration of Lamyanba Irawat will conclude at Shumang Leela Shanglen at Palace Compound along with prize distribution on September 30, it added.
CPI, secretary Kh Surchand; secretariat member A Lala and RK Amusana along with Wangkhem local secretary Arunkumar; Yaikul local secretary Nogen; All Manipur Road Transport Motor Works Union, president S Manglem and others attended the event, it stated.
